Sew Grateful February

February 7, 2012

Do you know how great the online sewing community is? You’re reading this, so of course you do! Debi is hosting another Sew Grateful Week, as she is a dear. I’m breaking the rules a bit, mainly because I didn’t realize there were specific days to post specific categories. Whoopsy!

I’ve definitely been feeling the sewing love of late. All your sweet and funny comments are so appreciated! The crazy talented Erica recently featured my Branch Division dress on her blog. She is a total inspiration when it comes to upcycling and doing more with less, so color me very flattered. Thanks so much, Erica!

As you may know, I’m trying to de-stash, unclutter and be a more conscientious seamster. I’ve been sewing a ton from my fabric and pattern stash, and upcycling as I go.  I really like the making something from nothing side of sewing. Don’t you?!

As a little thank you, I’m offering up your choice of vintage pattern from my Etsy de-stash shop. Feeling the 70s love? *The only rule is there are no rules. I’d love to see what you make, but of course I can’t really track you down and demand a garment :) I’ll ship anywhere, so just leave a comment w/email & let me know what pattern speaks to your inner Mary Tyler Moore.

*Okay, so there’s one rule. Comment by 11:59 pm EST on Tuesday, February 14

Being so new to the online sewing blog community, I am overwhelmed at the amazing spirit and the amount of information I’ve been fortunate enough to experience in such a short time :)

I love all your vintage patterns, but I feel most drawn to Simplicity 9221 and 8181. I promise if i win, to make and blog about it next on my list! And if I don’t win and no one snatches these up…. i might just buy them anyway ;)

Nice patterns! I am commenting just to say thanks for the giveaway, but please don’t include me. I have too many patterns unsewn and am trying so hard not to add to my collection. Lavender, there is a special cake recipe on my blog today which I think you might love. :-)

I’m with Symondezyn, 9221 caught my eye right away.
We are fortunate to have such a great community, aren’t we?

I would make the hell out of Simplicity 9501. Just make it all day. Make it on up. Yeah. That’s how I do it.

I also have a mental picture of you actually hunting people down and making them sew the pattern while you watch. Which would be amazing. I would totally watch a show like that. Just saying.

Ohhh i just starting to digging about the blogging community, what can i say it is that it’s soooo inspiring! And that i’m turning quite obsessed about sewing these time!

For the giveaway if i had a chance to win, the Simplicity 9346 is catching my eyes, i want to do a tunic for my aunt in blue (her fav color!) since hum 2/3 months and last week i found a very cheap (5 euros for 3 meters!) linen/viscose fabric in blue, haaa as soon as i got home i checked my few sewing pattern hoping i would found out a pattern to suit my ideas but … i started sewing last june so i have one burda and a beginner sewing book ho crap! Anyway the lines of that Simplicity tunic are what i was searching, close to the upper body and larger at the bottom, rounded neck and short sleeves! Looking like 70’s but also reminding a bit India clothing, my aunt loves Asia!

Thank you so much for the Giveaway. Lots of lovely choices but I think the Simplicity 9501 is great and something that I could probably make in a weekend and be wearing on Monday.

  29. February 9, 2012 4:06 pm

Ah! I really hope I win! This would be my very first vintage pattern to tackle. :) I am somewhat of a beginner, and think that Simplicity 5546 would be perfect for me! This ’60’s shape is just darling.

I’m Sew Grateful for the Sew Grateful week! I just love it when I discover new sewing blogs such as yours, and without Sew Grateful I never would have found your lovely nook here on the blogosphere! :)

Close enough to the 60s for my taste, in my size and look at that double bust dart detail! I would make this up in a plain fabric, maybe a nice aqua, and raise the hem just an inch or two! Thanks for hosting such a generous giveaway!
